Cant help on first bit but I don't think 2010 mirrors will fit. Bare in mind freelander 2 and discovery 3 mirrors are the same in appearance so if you look for a freelander 2 mirror might get it cheaper |

Cheers Craig, never realised that, a good option then. Will try the motor first, worth a play as it might be something or nothing, eg microswitch etc. |

Took the mirror off completely to have a good look, doesn't seem possible to open the casing at the swivel joint. Craig had earlier confirmed that you can't take the back cover off either. I tried removing the glass and motor, still doesn't help. The mirrors are assembled then plastic welded.
