IMHO No Range Rover worthy of the name should be without a tow bar. Whether it's used or not......

2016 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Corris Grey

Hi - just to say you can remove that entire armature as that is supplied by Westfalia when fitting their detachable towbar.

To then replace your exhaust hanger and towing eye you need part number KPU000032 from Landrover which is strangely called REINFORCEMENT (they are only about £40 the pair) then you have a perfectly standard Range Rover with no towbar - the REINFORCEMENT pieces are also made by Westfalia as they are labelled that.

The thick bar which runs behind and below the bumper on the armature for the towbar is there to spread the load of the trailer - its not there for crash protection so you wouldn't invalidate your insurance as its wasn't present on Range Rovers leavng the factory without the detach towbar specified.

Hope that helps Current Fleet:-

Towbar question

Hi, can I ask/add to this please.

My rear crossmemder does not look like the one in the earlier picture. I have a 2009 Vogue. I want to fit a towbar, but I do not have the central square looking hole that wraps around the armature, that would receive the tow bar?

Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I had a sport before, which did have the standard square hole, ready for a tow bar? I have the Westfalia P/N from the arnature: 323 070 600 003. I have googled this and nothing comes up.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Biffa, if you can put up a pic. Thumbs Up

otherwise:

the RRS and Disco tow balls are completely different from the FFRR. The RRS is made by Thule and the FF is by Westfalia

if you have a westfalia armature on the car it should be ready to accept either the detachable unit or the adjustable farmers hitch.

this is a pic of an armature with the receiver for the detachable bar bolted on. In the pic below the part i think you need is the grey bit!

the armature you have should be the part that bolts into.

have a look on the bay of fleas for one or keep an eye out on here they come up occasionally.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I had fitted the tow bar armature to my last FFRR (2006 TD6) and happen to have the two brackets that were originally fitted to the car. They incorporate the exhaust hangers and the towing eye. If anyone wants them, they are welcome to have FOC if they can sort out collection/courier from Larne in Nor'n Ireland.

I also happen to have a set of used front discs from the same vehicle. They have a bit of wear, but are warp, crack and serious grooving free. Again FOC subject to collection or courier. Should've been old enough to know better...doh!

Thanks. But mine does not look like this to start with. I have the Westfalia P/N 323 070 600 003.
There is no where to recive the tow bar. Do I need to change the armature?
I will try to add a picture again Smile
