United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.2 SC V8 Zambezi Silver
Hard into 1st

Hi all,
On my recently aquired RR 4.2 Supercharged I have noticed now and again a thud (ish) change down into 1st gear as the car is stopping.
I have heard it may be a "reset" needed, any ideas.
Otherwise it changes all gears seamlessly and very smoothly.

Thanks

Glynn

Mine is having this LTB done when it's next in. It sorts out the harsh shifts 1-2-3 and specifically a lift off throttle 3-2-1 shunt.

LTB00267 - Harsh Transmission Shift 1-2 & 2-3 Lift Off Throttle (L.O.T), and 3-2 & 2-1 rollout

It's a software issue and takes 0.2hrs apparently.

In my TDV8 I found the same issue and having the auto box megaflushed made a huge difference to the smoothness of all gear changes. Discovery 4 HSE

Mmm . . . interesting.

My AJV8 does this - I thought I'd read somewhere on here this was a characteristic of the ZF 6 speed gearbox ?

So it can be "fixed" ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Yes, and the sooner the better IMHO as it will only do damage in the longrun...

"megaflush" Shocked

Mine is due in for a service, with it towing for about 30% of it's life is it worth me specifying this type of gearbox flush...the 'box isn't showing any signs of problems but preventing is better than curing ? Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

^^ Thanks Craig - I'll look into that.
I take it that as it takes 0.2 hrs to complete it is a "laptop" job ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Not sure on 0.2hrs or costs as mine was done as a "favour" by my friendly local MD (who supplies my parts and i convert their customers cars etc)

I will say though, it took a couple of attempts to get it right Rolling Eyes first time made it far worse Exclamation But got their on the second/third attempt... So ask them if you can roadtest it when they have completed their work (to make sure your happy with the results Thumbs Up )
