The TV tuner is screwed onto the backing plate from the other side, so you needs to take the tuner & backplate out then separate them. I used two pieces of light angled aluminium 25x25 mm to make new mounting bracket for the new tuner & drilled them to match the original mounting holes on the steel back plate. It was a straightforward job and only took about 30mins to mount the new tuner onto the original back plate.

Thanks for the swift response B9er. How does the backplate come off?

I just fixed my new one against the original using velcro, then swapped the leads over. |

Pretty much the whole setup has to come out to release the back plate. Some people just wedge the new tuner down the side of the old one and make do with that. I preferred to make sure it was well secured and didn't see any point in lugging around the old tuner. It's not difficult to dismantle and reassemble the electronic grub bins and their mounts. The whole thing start to Finnish took me just over three hours. Should've been old enough to know better...doh!

The hybrid tuner works well, RSE or not. If you have access to some form of coding, IID, Test Book etc, programme the vehicle with the hybrid TV option. It will still work if you don't, but won't list a TV tuner error code if you do Should've been old enough to know better...doh!
