remove tv tuner

Just bought a hybrid tuner (Thanks Craig) and find myself scratching my head at how to fit it.
I've searched the forums (but probably not as much as I should) and find myself in this position.

So question is how do I remove the analogue tuner so I can fit the new hybrid as I cant see any other screws or fixings???

Thanks in advance.

The TV tuner is screwed onto the backing plate from the other side, so you needs to take the tuner & backplate out then separate them. I used two pieces of light angled aluminium 25x25 mm to make new mounting bracket for the new tuner & drilled them to match the original mounting holes on the steel back plate. It was a straightforward job and only took about 30mins to mount the new tuner onto the original back plate.

Make sure to mount the new tuner so as the connection ports face upwards, the same as the original one! Should've been old enough to know better...doh!

Thanks for the swift response B9er. How does the backplate come off?
Do I have to dismantle the whole setup or are the bolts there to do it straightforward. Currently - 55 FFRR S/C and loving it

I just fixed my new one against the original using velcro, then swapped the leads over.

Pretty much the whole setup has to come out to release the back plate. Some people just wedge the new tuner down the side of the old one and make do with that. I preferred to make sure it was well secured and didn't see any point in lugging around the old tuner. It's not difficult to dismantle and reassemble the electronic grub bins and their mounts. The whole thing start to Finnish took me just over three hours. Should've been old enough to know better...doh!

I've got the RSE fitted so looks like the whole lot is coming out.
Just testing it though and with all the plugs in I'm getting nothing out of the main screen just a flashing power button and the LR screen!! Currently - 55 FFRR S/C and loving it

The hybrid tuner works well, RSE or not. If you have access to some form of coding, IID, Test Book etc, programme the vehicle with the hybrid TV option. It will still work if you don't, but won't list a TV tuner error code if you do Very Happy Should've been old enough to know better...doh!

Update time

Ok so after missing out a step Whistle I had the full works back last night including tv tuner but didn't have time to fit it properly just lay it on the side.

This morning I decided to take it all apart and fit properly where the existing tuner is.
All done but in checking I got the flashing power light again.
Banging Head Banging Head thinks I. I thought I'd connected everything up.

Bit of a break with family and set back to it this afternoon.
Only to find after stripping it all apart that all the cables had been replaced.
Back together again (checking twice cables have been fitted) but still the blinking power light.

I thought I'd be able to do some things on this motor myself but hadn't couldn't on needing black magic to cure faults.

After the cable out cured the last episode what else could this be?
I think it's still related to these as a hen looking at the optic cables I'm not seeing any light coming out? Currently - 55 FFRR S/C and loving it
