tdv8 cylinder location/fault P021a

The FF has developed a constant missfire & when I plugged it in today came up with Injector seven injection timing.Obviously before I take this any further I need to identify the cylinder & possible causes. I think if my interpretation of the workshop manual is correct its somewhere in the engine!!!!! Worse things happen at sea! Well thats what swmbo said when WRENS came to sea!!!

from rave its a bit arseards way round but says:

*note:when viewed from the rear of the cylinder block

RH bank: Front cylinder number 1 through to cylinder number 4
LH bank: Front cylinder number 5 through to cylinder number 8

so i recokon second in on LHS when looking into the engine bay. Thumbs Up

NO SCRATCH THAT.......

RHS 3RD IN AS LOOKING INTO THE ENGINE BAY. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

combine the text description with the cyl layout and you can figure it out!

cyls are

4 8
3 7
2 6
1 5

so looking from the rear would be looking from "behind" cyls 4 and 8 otherwise the handing doesn't make sense.

so 1 and 5 are at the front of the car and 4 and 8 are at the back of the engine bay.

got you, thats where i had it but seemed to be going around in circles Very Happy then i decided I was loosing the plot. Interestingly I had a o ring fail on the leakoff pipe on that cylinder leaking diesel every where three weeks or so ago so wonder if that maybe related? Worse things happen at sea! Thumbs Up Would be surprised if it wasnt part of the same issue.

Swap a couple of the injectors around and see if the fault moves Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
