Open door error - HELP!

Hi All,

I've just had the car in to a body shop. There was a very minor hit to the front passenger (LHD) corner. They polished some marks on the headlight, removed and repainted the front bumper and painted the front fender. The car looks great.

However, on the (long) drive home, the car gave out an error message I've not seen before: "CLOSE DOORS TO CHANGE HEIGHT." (Only displayed when I tried to change height - I was just checking everything was normal when I was stopped at the traffic lights.) I stopped twice to make sure all the doors were closed (incl. tailgate) The fault remained, even after I stopped for a bit to run some errands.

Any ideas? Is there something that could have been disturbed or not plugged back in?

It's really frustrating after waiting ages for the repair. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bow down

Strange, cos if the door lock sensor is not detecting the door is fully closed, it would show by the courtesy lights being on, I would start with the multiplugs on the drivers door outstation, have a really close look at the connectors and don't assume they are making a good connection - I had this on mine and it was one of the pins.

maybe a phone call to the repairers and ask how they actually did the job and that might give you a clue where to look... ... - .- -.

Stan - very sensible suggestion! I'm already on that.

No, the courtesy light is NOT on. I tried opening a door while moving and got a DOOR OPEN warning. This issue is NOT generating that.

Would a problem with the bonnet sensor cause an open door warning? 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Hmm. It can't hurt to try. Slammed all the doors, but I didn't think to check the bonnet. It's easy to check. Thanks! Bow down

Any other suggestions?

Sort of. The next day the error was gone. It hasn't reappeared. I don't know why. As long as it doesn't come back, I'm happy. Shocked

Well, it's a repair that matches my skill level.

I didn't want to say anything in case the car remembered and started the warnings all over again. Shocked

The car has several micro switches in the door latch... Separate micro switches for the CL and for the Alarm... If it ever comes back, simply unplug and plug in all the plugs to the latch, get a screwdriver and latch the door (so it thinks it's closed) then you can check it all works Thumbs Up

If all else fails, it maybe needs the latch mech replacing (they fail quite often) quite simple Thumbs Up
