An experiment that may of worked

Well for the last 6 weeks or so I have had to live with my stereo switching off and the screen freezing, I could not change into menu and get into any of the settings, nav, on board computer etc until it unfroze, either a few minutes after or longer.
So my fix ( I hope), yesterday I wanted to look at the nav disc, could I get that out of the machine......heck it took a while for it to spit it out, pressing the little eject button just wasn't having any of it, when it finally came out the disc has a small mark on it so I left it out and run without the sat nav.

Now after starting the FF it seems the stereo has stayed on, no cutting out, no freezing screen and Im able to get into every setting with out problems, only no sat nav!....the first time the FF started up the screen did have a different coloured screen ( blue and not showing on and off road nav) but has now gone back to the usual black screen.

Very strange as I thought the nav was completely separate!

Oh well happy days Thumbs Up

Any one else had that second screen and why does it do that?

 If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

The nav computer is freezing on you due to disc / read probs. Try a new disc or you'll need a new laser.

The different color screen is because the nav computer apparently did not boot with the rest of the sys when you first re-started. The default display in the head unit is the blue screen you saw. When the nav unit came back up it redefined th colors and options.

BMW mode maybe? Looks more like a P38 display? An earlier software version maybe?

Thanks for the quick reply, my disc is a 2002 year so if I decide to get a new one which year will work with the driver ? or would it be better to get a new driver and more up dated disc ? I still use my old tom tom as thats has the more up dated maps!

The main thing is the stereo does not cut out, which is far more important than knowing where to go Laughing If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

I've had the same thing when both mk 3 and 4 sat navy's have decided not to work, if you remove the sat nav completely you will get the blue screen

I have it frequently

Blue screen and the freezing screen

And its all to do with water

Leave the hatch open and always use the aircon then it will dry out

And never take it into a carwash
