France 2013 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Causeway Grey
L322 5.0 SC not starting

My car refused to start this morning (luckily parked at home). The doors open, the sidesteps deploy, the radio works, but trying to push the START button and nothing not even a sound, nothing. Could this be a battery problem? I would have thought that if the battery wasn't powerful enough I would at least hear the starter motor but not the slightest noise. Also I had just done a 350 mile trip the previous day so the battery was charged to the full. Any tips? I'll call the garage tomorrow.

Lock it up, walk away and come back in 30 mins, if that doesn't work disconnect battery, leave for 30 mins and reconnect - if that doesn't work then call LR Assist Thumbs Up non starting like this usually happens when you press the unlock button repeatedly by mistake and it upsets the immobiliser - happened twice on my V8 Diesel.

Locked the car and unlocked much later but still no go. Tried with the two different keys also. Will try and disconnect battery in the morning and see how it goes.

When you press the brake pedal, do the brake lights light up ?? Since the brake switch needs to be activated for it to start, if that is not working properly the ECU will not start the engine.

Also check that the car is properly in neutral or park, that is another switch that needs to be activated before it starts. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Thanks Eugene but I can't get the ignition on and I think you need the ignition for the brake lights to work.
Car is in "Park".
Called my dealer who says it is most probably a dead battery. When the car senses there's not enough power in the battery, there's nothing, no ignition, no noise as it doesn't even try to start the car.
Will try and start the car with a booster as Land Rover Assist told me the French version of "Your car is just out of warranty Sir, we can't help you!".

Mince alors! good new, a battery is not that expensive and really easy to swap with the bonnet in "workshop mode".

Also, your Rangie is "old" enough to require a new battery, so I would tend to think this is it really.

However, make sure there was not a recall on you Rangie, as early 2010 model had battery problem as you may know.

Keep us posted. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

That would be good news if it is only a battery !! Also good to know if I ever have a similar issue, than battery is what to look for. Maybe replace it anyway next time I get a chance and put a biggun in Smile Like I did with the 4.2, put a 110 Ah in Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Can confirm it is the battery. Went to pick up a new one from my Land Rover dealer, had it installed by my friendly local garage (Renault service dealer) and it started first time. Must say Renault service is very good, may I dare say better than Land Rover Non Assistance!
