It is very straightforward to swap the motor alone. Much harder to change the linkage too. There’s a good write up on here on how to do it.

Now on my 3rd wiper motor replacement to try and fix this, the latest one is Chinese copy that fits an E39 (direct fit for L322). Still the same.

I would not bother with Chinese stuff 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Stornoway Grey with Jet interior NOW SOLD

Just buy a used E39 one on eBay. Easy to fit. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue |
