What revs / gear for mph

Hmmmm, still playing with right foot loud pedal but am unable to find a decent cruising speed - your honour.

70mph i have 2500 rpm and guessing its in 6th automatic gear, tried the blip throttle to knock it down but it doesn't allow it.
Do i push to 80 mph to see if it drops?
It may seem daft easy to find out question but some of you may already have the answer and save me 3 points - just my luck unmarked plod just doing their job correctly.

Think it's 5 speed on the 2005 car........

Sliding the lever to sport locks out top gear I think and will def make it change down more readily.....

Or use manual mode...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

If you have the BMW engine with the 5sp box it's: -

Gear: km/miles per 1000rpm
I:10.8 / 6.7
II:17.5 / 10.9
III:25.6 / 15.9
IV:38.6 / 24
V:48 / 29.8

If you have the NA Jag engine with the 6sp box it's: -

I:9.2 / 5.7
II:16.5 / 10.3
III:25.4 / 15.8
IV:33.7 / 20.9
V:44.5 / 27.7
VI:55.8 / 34.7

Could be as mr verbose says, but they are a bit rare.

Push the gear lever left from the D position puts it in sport mode. You get a message under the speedo.

Pull it right again to go back to normal mode.

Whilst in sport, moving it forwards or back engages manual mode, so you control the gears. Forwards is changing up, backwards changes down. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I think from your gallery you have the bmw engined one - others more knowledgeable on facelifts will be able to confirm.

You could also check your reg document - bmw engine = 4398cc, jag engine = 4394.

From the gallery the exterior is early car, so it's a hybrid one with the early body but facelift hifi and screen.

It'll be the BMW engine as the Jag cars had the facelifted exterior with the slightly deeper grille and step in the front bumper......

5 speed then.

If you go into manual mode, the selected gear will light up on the dash. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Brilliant, it's like a visit from Sherlock Holmes great replies as to my new purchase. I can confirm that it is a 5 speed lump due to attempting the side shift very smooth, was expecting a crunching sound or the riffs locking up and blocking the A5, also the LEDS 5, 4, & 3 work together with sport mode displayed.
But at the moment I'm still impressed with the auto changing ease of driving style.
I'm taking the beast to a local Indy garage in Milton Keynes to check all is ok - money well spent in prevention not cure is my logic, and to get acquainted with a decent mechanic - father / son outfit.
Thanks again for your help lads, should have made this a quiz with a prize !!

Isn't the Jag engine a 4.2 liter? Or was there 2 engine sizes, 4.4 and 4.2 (or 3 with the 5.0 liter s/c)

As per RRPhil's diagram that Stan has kindly posted there was a 4.4 Jag NA engine from 2005 - hence the confusion. Not many of these were made though.

In summary, the good news is there's nothing wrong with the OP's gearbox. The bad news is it only has 5 gears. Laughing
