2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black
2007 TDV8 instrument cluster fault and heavy steering

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie so hopefully I'm posting this in the right place.

I'm having a few problems with my 2007 TDV8 Vogue SE, on start up it's like my instrument cluster drops out, when the key is in the ignition all the dials move as they should do then when you start the car up the dials all drop like they lose power then a few seconds later they jump back to where they should be, it only does this on start up not while driving. (I have a video of it doing this)

Second problem is heavier than normal steering, I've checked fluid levels, changed the servotronic valve still the same, when the BCU is un plugged and plugged back in I get light steering for around 3 mins then it goes heavy again, have also tried a new BCU and that made no difference.

Had the car checked for codes and there's lots of codes regarding can bus faults and Lost Communication With Instrument Cluster Control Module.

Any help on this matter would be much appreciated

Kate

I did,

Instrument cluster drop out was due to battery, it had an underpowered battery fitted to and was only working to 75% capacity when load tested so new more powerful battery fitted and that fixed that problem.

As for the heavy steering the BCU had been programmed by the autologic, and when reprogrammed by the land rover dealer tool (ids) it has worked fine ever since.
