Reverse camera replacement

The reverse camera on our FFRR died. Found this chap on da bay who,has installed an upgraded camera in the same housing. Better picture and substantially less costly then replacing with oem.

Thought I'd share....

Ps this bloke is dangerous. Keep your wallet shut to avoid tempting upgrades....

good job, i can't believe how pants the standard camera really is The difference between theory and reality is that in theory it will work.

That looks very good! Mine is sometimes intermittent, so I might just try this. Did you go there or did you send your old one?
How long did it take?

I went there as I was in the area. Took about 30 minutes.

I may have paid slightly less than £160.... I think the LR item was £450 or so.

Taking it out looked pretty straightforward.

Bit more patience getting it in as new connectors were added that were a little larger and needed squeezing through. He rewired the new camera with the old loom after these connectors so that the fitting was otherwise plug and play

That's apparently just a replacement camera mounted next to the existing....

I'm not convinced, but I'm happy with what I got and the saving on OEM.
