France 2007 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver

Great to see that there are still people in love with vintage cars Thumbs Up the feeling of driving a car that has been cared for so many decades, that has an engine that has done 80 years or more it's best to bring their custodians where they wanted to be and still can outperform a few of the daily drivers on the tarmac is fabulous.
The different way of handling, throttle in the middle, or pre selector gearbox, the way they search their way on the road, your continuous work on that huge steering wheel, it makes you feel a pioneer, a first worldwar pilot. It is hard work and so rewarding!
That is why I find it a pity that it has become an investors market. The passion is gone, to many great cars are gathering dust or stand in carefully dried and much to clean "garages" waiting to make more money and if they get out, they are transported on trailers. Or on the other side of the specter are raced and rallied to death because the owner can afford to have it repaired no matter what. That's also a reason why I am on this forum, people with a passion Thumbs Up
Have a great day
Robert

Passions, yes. But not for ancient relics though. Embarassed

I actually think the main reason that so many of these vintage and veteran cars don't get driven is because they're nigh on impossible to drive with any degree of comfort, which, let's face it, is one large reason we drive Range Rovers.

I love looking at pre-war stuff in museums and really love reading about their history. It's so good to see how the engineers have progressed things over the decades.

But honestly, anyone who's ever driven anything like a Ford Model T will tell you it was an experience akin to wrestling an angry crocodile. It certainly made me understand exactly how genuinely macho the drivers of the big Bentley Blowers were. That took more driving ability, strength and stamina and indeed courage (no safety stuff then) than any 60's Le Mans cars did. One false move and it would bite your hand off, like I said, Angry Crocodile.

Yet at the other end of the scale with this modern (especially Germanic) machinery the damn things are on the point of driving themselves. No driving pleasure whatsoever. I think the 3 glory decades for me were the 60's, 70's and 90's. The 80's produced way too many awful cars and few decent ones for me.

The HK500 is utterly gorgeous!

Just the right stance from every angle. Really not a bad line anywhere on it and oh-so purposeful and classy. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

Another favourite of mine is the Vauxhall Senator. I had one back in the 80s and it's about the only car I'm sorry I ever sold

It's totally impractical but I do like the look of this, wish I had the lifestyle that meant I could have one, but where to put the dog inside?
