This is the nose of my trailer supported by a 3500kg hydraulic trolley jack. There's less than 100kg on it.

That jack probably only needs bleeding. Open the lowering valve fully, pump the handle up and down 5 times then re-test. The cheaper jacks don't have the auto-bleed thingy as I found out a while back. |

Going under a car thats on axel stands is safe as houses, but like houses they need a good foundation, so make sure you are on concrete and that the car is sitting safely on the stands. When I lower the car on to stands, I leave the jack 1/2"" below the car and give it a dam good shake. That way if something has gone Pete Tong the car will jump back on to the jack and not hit the floor! Once I've given the car a good shaking and it hasn't moved, it is safe to approach!

Caught my neighbour throwing a cigarette butt onto my garden, so I lent him my jack.
