Autolamp Delay

Minor issue with a TDV8 I am selling. On first ignition button push it does nothing but displays "Autolamp Delay" on the LED. Second attemp at pressing button it starts first time. Any ideas?

There are OBD11 codes for various Autolamp delay issues but no idea what they mean?

B1689 Autolamp delay circuit failure
B1690 Autolamp delay circuit open
B1691 Autolamp delay circuit short to battery
B1692 Autolamp delay circuit short to ground

What should he do with indicator stalk? (is this in manual)

Maybe try this

1. Turn the vehicle off.

2. Rotate the headlamp control to the auto lamp position.

3. Rotate the headlamp control to the off position.

4. Turn the vehicle on.

5. Turn the vehicle off.

6. Turn the headlamp control to the auto lamp position (the headlights should turn on).

7. Turn the headlamp control to the off position when the desired delay time (up to three minutes) has been reached.

On the disco the auto lamp delay is the thing which keeps the headlamps on for 30 sec after you turn off the car. maybe if this has gone awry then it is causing the issue when you get back in and try to start it.

As has been said, should be able to turn off the autolamp delay in the steering wheel menu and see if the problem disappears. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
