Wobble / bobble type vibration

I have had an odd vibration since purchasing my TDV8 in February. initially i thought it was mechanical and to a degree it was as i ended up having to have an injector and both EGR valves and a air flow meter changed which in their state at the time causing the car to run quite lumpy.

After having the above work done, I was still noticing an odd vibration which wasn't tracking or wheel balance as it was slightly different on different road surfaces, but on some occasions it wasn't there at all.

It was then diagnosed with out of round tyres on 3 of the 4 with one of the four being nearly 1'' out of round. So in the last week I have had all four tyres replaces (Pirelli Scorpion 255/50/r20). initially the car was running perfectly with no noticeable wobble / vibration. Then yesterday I noticed at low speed what sounded like a dragging sound on the the breaks (metallic rubbing sound rather than screeching or squealing). Then later in the day after coming of the motorway and down a slip road there was a really bad bobbling / vibration / wobble (no sound) it was enough to make me stop and look around the car to see if there was a flat tyre as that is what it felt like, but there was nothing apparent.

Any advice from anyone please?

Also, just to note, I had rear disks and pads changed about 5k miles ago.

Check you have not got a rear calliper sticking on sir... Take it for a short run then put your have on/near each rear wheel and check temps... If one is noticeably hotter its probably stuck on sir... Usual FF issue... Rolling Eyes

As Craig said, and as is the usual advice if one is hot, then have both done cos the other won't be too far behind, not a horrendously expensive job either. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I agree with Craig's area to look at. How do the disc faces look and have they ever been changed ? i had a mini where the rear discs looked normal from the outside face, but the inside had corroded to the point the smooth surface had completely gone and was just flaked rust. The calliper had seized as well.

The symptoms were a dull wobble feel during normal driving which varied with speed not revs, and wasn't always there either. It came and went. , especially worst when just starting the journey, then under braking it would make a rough braking sound and you could feel it more. V8 or else ...

Just a quick update

Took it out for a short run today, after the drive i went around all for wheels/hubs and noticed the passenger side rear is quite hot and even smoking a little. As suggested, likely the calliper is sticking. The car is going to have to be parked up for a couple of weeks as i won't be able to get it to my regular independent for a couple of weeks.

Thanks again for everyones advice

jim
