Rear squeak

Evening

Last week it went in to an Indy for a rear drivers side squeak. It squeaks like a pram when going over speed humps.

After a few hours the y rang to say all the bushes seem fine apart from slight play in upper hub bush.
I said change upper and lower hub bushes on both sides.
Picked it up and drove home £400 lighter to find the squeak still there, no improvement.
Took the car back the next morning.
They disconnected the right hand shock and rocked the car to eliminate it and the squeak was still there.
They rang to say the camber bolt on the stabilising arm is siezed and rubbing on the inside metal.
New arm and bolt, another bill and problem solved!

Ok for 24hours and yes you guessed it, the same squeak has returned!

The car is going back in tomorrow for another investigation.

Any ideas?

Paul,

Have you searched other threads. Type pram into the search engine or squeaking if not done.

Here's one

I was advised to progressively spray WD40 or silicone lubricant onto the possible part, one at a time, to try and pinpoint/ rule other parts out as opposed to throwing money at it.

Mine does this from time to time.

I generally cure it by driving diagonally on to the grass bank outside my Dads house. Gives it some axle articulation. Fine for 6 months or so after....

Try that, I can pm you my dads address and he makes a good cuppa Rolling with laughter

Seriously though, get it twisting about and see if it settles.

Thanks chaps.

I've spent hours searching the whole internet looking for popular causes.

I took it back in today and they rang to say the aftermarket stabilising link arm they fitted on Friday seems to be noisy.

They have fitted a replacement and all is quiet, for how long is anyone's guess.

Knew if I waited long enough for the rains to come my LHR squeak would go away. It has Thumbs Up .

I had all the rear bushes replaced to solve this problem. It worked for going over bumps and potholes but I'm currently saving to sort out another squeak on the rear bearings ! Shocked

Rear rose bushes were the cause of my rear end squeak, new bushes and it's never squeaked since Thumbs Up

I had an annoying squeak too, (2003 4.4V8), tracked it down eventually to the handbrake cable rubbing through the rubber grommet in the retaining loop bolted to the wishbone. The cable was worn through to the metal sleeve. I rotated the grommet 180 degrees and then slipped some hard plastic tubing over the worn cable. I used 10mm ID air line as hard tubing, 10 cm length split lengthways. I held all in place with a small cable tie butted up to the pipe each end.
All quiet now and a nice inventive fix if I say so myself. Certainly cheaper than new handbrake cables!
