Check real lights - Dash Error Message

I had to replace the rear cluster on the drivers side as it was cracked beyond all repair. I have swapped both out for new ones not genuine RR so the ebay jobbie. Purist dont shout 😂

I have the check rear lights come up on the dash. They are fine and working well. The message does go but annoying on start up. Is there a way to clear this message. I get this with check n7mber plate light which i swapped out for brighter LED. Again works just annoying to have these messages so would like to remove them if possible. Current Cars

Hi stan.

Good tip will try a battery off and see if that resets it. Saying that though battery had been off for the work i was having done and previous error is still there with the number plate light. More annoying than a real issue.

Cheers buddie. Current Cars

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Zermatt Silver

I put a set of what sounds like similar items on my 2005 VSE last year, and whilst the looks from the outside were of a good quality item, I quickly discovered two problems.

The first being that the tail lights flickered very slightly and occasionally went out and back on again within a couple of seconds causing the bulb error message to appear. This was fixed by taking the bulb holder out and gently bending the metal contacts behind each bulb to apply a little more pressure.

The second issue was that I found the rear fog lights seemed to be on all the time due to the metal contacts for the tail light and fog light being installed in the wrong positions in the bulb holder causing the wrong elements to be illuminated in the lower tail light bulb. This didn’t thrown any error messages but it had started to melt the bulb holder slightly! 😬 After some minor surgery I managed to switch them to the correct position.

If you still have your old tail light units it may be worth comparing the bulb holders, or even swapping the bulb holders back to the originals. 2012 Westminster TDV8 4.4 Indus Silver

100%. Whilst I haven’t seen what lights are on when I am driving I do think perhaps I will swap the internal units over and see if that works. The bulbs were different in the new ones sent red opposed to the silvery blue ones I had on the old lights. Also it was the lense that was cracked on one side. I didn’t realise you could buy replacement lenses. Cheaper too!!!

Might just buy them put them back in the old units and send new ones back. Un-used of course 😂

Let me try internals swap over back to originals.

Good tip. Current Cars
