Bringing it out further from the bumper reduces the amount of vertical load you can have on the tow ball. So i would imagine they've kept it close to keep the vertical load limit as high as possible. |

Yep, I have the MaxRaxx as well but when I measured it from the centre line of the rear wheels the extra 36mm made a massive 2.97% difference so the maximum vertical load of 150KG (250KG if you reduce the max load in the boot by 100KG) was about 4 kilos. Since the caravan hitch and the one on the Ifor Williams are max rated at 100KG it doesn't matter.
