United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black

did they fit the genuine wiring kit?

you should have a small white fag packet sized box fitted into the O/S rear cubby and a small separate relay which mounts behind the O/s rear light.

genuine wiring module above.

there is a debate on the benefits of enabling the CCF files on the 06-09my cars, some say it needs to be done and some say it will work without. My 57/08 was enabled by my local indy with an autologic diagnostic, with gen LR wiring no problems.

I think that it should just work when plugged in, but enabling it in the CCF will allow the car to recognise the trailer is there and adjust some parameters accordingly, what these parameters are is anyones guess....... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It's got the white fag packet size thing so I presume the relay is there too. The wiring harness has Westfalia on it rather than Land Rover but I guess that's because it's aftermarket and not LR supplied. The fitter tells me that Westfalia supply LR. As far as configuring it, I don't know what system they are using but they specialise in Land Rover so I suppose it will be capable. What they are saying is that the option to enable the towing pack isn't present on the car.

Took the car back Wednesday morning. The fitter tested it and claims it is all ok. He reckons that the testers used for MOT purposes are not at the that good as they use LED's which the full fat doesn't like. I just hope he is correct and that it all works when I go collect the van next Saturday.

If he has an LED board or tester then that may do it, same principle as the new 10> rear light clusters which need ballast resistors or flash all over the shop.

If you have it all plugged in correctly it should be fine. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Common problem on a lot of cars is mot testers using led boards.
It isn't limited to LR cars having issues with the mot test.

The reason we don't hear about it much is that the mot only tests 13 pin sockets or twin caravan sockets.
If the car only has a single 7 pin trailer then it doesn't need testing (wired). As most cars only have the single 7 pin for towing only trailers we aren't hearing all the stories of the led boards not working.

I had the issue on a D3 with 13 pin socket but I had a trailer board in the boot and told them to use that as it had normal bulbs. His board was going crazy like your car did then he used mine and was all good.

Hi the Westfalia electrics kit in the 13 pin form should handle leds without any warnings. I have the 13pin loom on my 2003 ffrr and it does everthing it says on the tin!

Locks the EAS in normal height, although I do give it a few minutes to level it's self before plugging in the trailer.
It knocks out the rear PDC sensors, as all hell brakes loose when you unplug it Shocked
And depending on what I'm towing, it normally tells me I have a light out on the trailer, which I do Thumbs Up
I don't have a dash trailer indicator, but it rapidly flashes the indicators when there is a fault and you are signaling.
I'm not sure if it knocks out the rear fogs, but I have never had an issue towing in the fog with both the car and trailer fog lights on.
And I use an led trailer board with no issues.

The kit that I fitted was OEM Westfalia, came in a plain box and had Siemens VDO printed on it. It was plug and play, NO CCF programming, and the only difference that I could find was the price, I paid £ 85, the Westfalia loom is around £120, and the L/R one is about double that Shocked

FYI Westfalia are the suppliers for L/R and they make more than the tow bars, the sub frames have Westfalia lables on them too. And the 13 pin loom is the only one that I could find, that will cope with led's without the need for ballast resistors Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Wales 2006 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Bonatti Grey

We have a 2006 FF (4.4 AJV8), and I fitted the 13 pin electrics last year using the land rover supplied loom (tow-bar was a second hand Westfalia).

Everything worked fine, no programming was necessary (I believe this is on post 2010 cars which have a different electrical system to ours).

When the tin tent is plugged in, the suspension locks to access height, the gearbox mapping is different, the rear PDC's are disabled but it doesn't disable the rear fog lamps - hope this helps. 2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)

Thumbs Up Fair enough Pete, I haven't really tried it since I changed the EAS pump, the old one was worse than shagged, it took over 4 minutes to raise the car from low to off road Shocked And that was on a good day, sometimes it just never got there Sad Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... It's all sounding good as to what the Westfalia loom should do, and if it all works then I will be glad I spent the extra. But with the conflicting opinions regarding LED testers, trailer boards and one LR specialist saying there is a fault while the tow bar fitter says everything is working, I will only know for sure when I plug the caravan in. Fingers crossed..........😩

I found the loom and box of tricks to be very good value indeed, yes it was more than the £50 kits that you can get, but, it didn't need the CCF to be programmed. And when you take in to account the cost of a trip to the stealers, it was a bargain Thumbs Up
Plus the Westfalia 13 pin looms are the only ones that deal with led's with out any issues Very Happy Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

So........picked the van up Saturday. Plugged the electrics in and everything seemed to work as far as the road lights are concerned. The fog cut out does not seem to be working, the trailer symbol is permanently showing and the EAS is not showing as locked (although I haven't tried to raise or lower it). Other than that everything is good and we can't wait for the end of the month for a shakedown weekend away. 😊

The 06 model year has the green trailer light on all the time when a trailer is connected. What you see is correct.

If a fault develops in the trailer lighting you will get either a rapid flash of the indicators or a message on the dash saying "Check trailer lights".

The fog light cut out is due to lack of programming. Get the car programmed and this will be corrected. My 07 MY was exactly the same.
