Best Way To Demonstrate Knocking Noise

Hi guys,

I'm pretty sure that my car has developed the dreaded front end knocking. I've mentioned it to my local service guys and they have suggested that I take an engineer for a test drive to show him next week when it is in for some other work.

Now, the question is, how do I find a situation that can demonstrate this issue on a consistent basis so that he will notice and understand it. I've had it happen in various situations, going over speed bumps, coming down ramps in a multi-storey car park, but can you guys suggest something that is guaranteed to show it up?

Many thanks in anticipation.

S.

Does anybody have a list of the the service bulletins that relate to this issue, that would be a great help so that i can refer the engineer to them.

Find somewhere that has rumble strips on the side of the road, then tune sped until you hit resonance!

You should try stopping at the top of a steep hill , put in neutral or reverse then release the brake sharply and apply it sharply after a foot or so .
You can also do this whilst the wheel is turned left and then right .

Works every morning as I reverse off my driveway Very Happy
