I'd still be inclined to spray the wheel arches with white spirit, just spray them every hour until the tar is really soft, almost liquid like, then take a paint brush to it. Most of it will come off very easily. Might be easier with the wheel off for final cleaning.

Go the pound shop and buy a pack of those dish wash sponges with the slightly rougher side on them. Should be safe on bodywork and such if you don't push to hard with them.

While it may not cause instant damage, over time, I believe it is likely to cause plastics to degrade/disintergrate. Petroleum based substances and plastics don't mix well. I guess it all depends on the exact compositions, but there are certainly reports of such effects about so I'd avoid to be on the safe side. |

^^ Wot he said, all external plastics will be oil proof, otherwise they would suffer from fuel spills |

You're probably right, though I wouldn't trust LR to use fuel proof fuel lines. |

Earlier in this thread there was a recommendation for Autosmart Tardis. This works!! No If's, But's or Maybe's. I've even used it to clean a hardened paintbrush which had been used to put on roofing bitumen and then not cleaned out. 1 hour soaking and the brush was like new.

Arnt the wheel arches around £25 each? Send Dan a message/enquiry and if so, simply replace them! Not worth this much hassle/finger nails/stress for £100 sir |
