Hi Guys just a quick question, is it ok to use the iid tool to re flash the bluetooth module with the engine running? or does the engine need to be switched off

Excuse my ignorance but what do you mean buy a supply mode?

many of the battery maintainers (like some of the ctek range) have supply mode, a regulated 13.6v output which is useful to retain radio memory when the battery is removed

As above, but the function is also of great use during ECU flashing.

In a normal charging mode, chargers will usually output a slightly varying voltage. This is exactly what should be avoided when programming ECUs as small changes in voltage can cause failure. A regulated supply mode creates a stable voltage that is ideal for such purposes.

The alternatives for those who don't have a supply available are just to ensure the battery is well charged or to connect another running vehicle with jump leads - dependent on the the length of the flash.

LR recommend a 50A power supply is used, but experience has shown that 25A is enough, or just a good battery for short flashes. I use a CTEK MXS25 which adds some piece of mind.

Thanks for clearing that up guys, so i take it if i purchase a CTEK MXS 7.0 that will do the job?

The BT module is quite a long flash, and they're quite fragile, so I would be inclined to go for the jump leads option, if possible, or a more powerful charger. The MXS 7.0 would certainly help though, vs the battery alone. Obviously, you'll understand, I can't make any guarentees.  Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
