Steering column auto position

While getting out of my 08 RR Vogue this evening having switched off the ignition, the steering column moved to its upper position (as per normal) but I could hear the servo motor continuing to run after the column had reached it upper position. When I put the key back in the ignition lock and restarted the engine, the servo motor continued to run with the column in it upper position. I found I could move the column ok with the small adjustment column on the lower left of the column housing, however when I turned the ignition off, the column again moved to its upper position and the servo motor continued to run for around 10 sec before stopping.
Not sure what the problem is, but any ideas / advice welcome

Got in the car earlier this evening and started engine to go into town. Steering wheel immediately sank into my lap - made driving inconvenient but not impossible. Got to destination and tuned off ignition. Steering when stayed in my lap. Thought I'll have another go and switched ignition on. Steering wheel didn't move, but when I used the manual move lever, I managed to get the wheel back to normal driving position. Switched off ignition and it stayed put - result ! Pulled fuse 20 so it at least stays where I want it.

Stan, thanks for the search pointer.

From what I can see in previous posts, it seems like the rake adjustment can be fixed with a battery dis-connect and re-connect - mechanical failure of the rake mechanism does not seem to be evident (unlike the reach mechanism)
Is this right or am I missing something?
