Digital dashboard brightness / Interior lighting

First of all please be gentle with me if I've missed something dead straight-forward but it's a little annoying so I thought I might as well ask

Two things please both connected with the interior lighting (my car is 2013 l405 with the changeable light colours) the first is the brightness of the main dashboard speed / rpm area after the dusk sensor kicks in. I appreciate that there is a rheostat operated by a wheel but even on the highest setting I struggle to see things as I'd really like to. I wish I could have the brighter settings associated with daylight hours but I'm not sure how to do this.

The second thing is loosely connected to the first matter, which arose for the first time last week when I was collecting my 86 year old father in law to drop him off at the pub. It was dark by this time and as I'd stopped at the road side I looked to the door unlock symbol on the drivers door but it was not illuminated and as there wasn't any other light source it was practically invisible. Is this right or does mine have a bulb out. Any thoughts are welcome Crying or Very sad

On the dash question, no idea. If you look in settings on the infotainment, there are some settings for the Nav at night. Maybe fiddle with those? Might have a knock on effect on the dash.

On the lock question, I'm pretty sure there is an amber LED by the switch. I'll try to remember to look this evening when I'm in the car. Is the mood lighting turned on because even on the inkiest of nights, I think I can see those buttons clearly, so wouldn't need the led.

Afraid that the branch only works on Austin 1100s Whistle but the nav system is worth a look. I looked this evening and there is an orange light on part of the cluster but when your eyes are as poor as mine and the illumination is rather dim it's difficult to tell which side to unlock and which to lock. I do appreciate the kind thoughts and advice and I'll come back if I find a better solution. Cheers Thumbs Up

So the switches should be illuminated and there is an amber LED to indicate that the car is locked.

Well done Emperor, I'm going to go and check again but what you've shown is pretty clear cut. Even I can see that!

For the dash brightness, have you got it on 'torch' view or normal? Torch is the option that highlights the speed 5-10mph either side of your current speed and follows it round the dial, whereas normal view illuminates the whole speedo & tacho and is quite a lot brighter. Steve

The car is going in next week to have the illumination in the memory seat modules ( both sides ) done but if any one out there can answer me the following I'd appreciate it.

Is there supposed to be illumination of the hand brake, the start / stop button and the upper glovebox (round) release button as all of these are in darkness and I'm not sure if they are connected to the memory seat module issue. I've tried my best to look it up online but to no avail. Cheers Steve

It's only two years old (I've had it for ten months) but like you I don't do a lot of mileage, so didn't notice until the dark days arrived recently Whistle
