Sorry chaps

Will have been covered a million times before, I am sure. But did a quick search and couldn't find anything immediate, so quick question to you all, which plugs best for the old girl. 2003 4.4 vogue. Mate recommended these NGK BKR6EQUP. But these aren't what 'Rave' recommends.

Thoughts please.???

Different versions of RAVE have different answers.

Main difference
NGK BKR6EQUP = 4 earth electrodes
other one 2 electrodes.

Only real difference 4 electrode one longer life (since it has 4 electrodes to burn down)

I have NGK BKR6EQUP, fitted in mine (same car as yours) but I would likely change them well before end of life (IIRC 80000miles something like that) Howard

I thought I might give them a go. Just wanted to see if anyone else had tried them.
I had read about a chap who used them and got better mpg from his lpg setup.

my lpg guy said lpg setups, should not use the four prong type, you could, but got a better burn with a single type i cant remember but i have a plug box somewhere. mine were about £55 the set

So better burn on lpg or standard? Sorry mate.

I'm pretty sure I got a single electrode plug, but I will search my box of crap, as I kept a plug box, to reorder. (One day!) I will have a look and get back to you. I think the science is, a slow burn, is a better burn on the LPG. And one electrode helps to slow burn.
I have prinz LPG, if it means anything though.

Best plugs for LPG are standard NGK single electrode, none of these fancy plugs are any good, they claim they are but it's just to sell you the plug, people will say their mpg increased but that's just down to new plugs anyway...  Pete

Most of the expensive plugs are just designed to last longer, rather than work better. It's why the service interval is so long on the expensive OE style.

If you replace them more frequently then there's no point shelling out on expensive ones.

the 4 prong NGK's i pulled out of mine shortly after i'd bought it didn't look like they'd been changed ever, going by the state of them.

Due to the laws of physics, the spark will only ever go to one electrode at a time

4 just means that they last longer, once the longest earth electrode has worn down, the spark jumps to the next longest one and so on - gradually decreasing the earth electrodes length

I got the 4 electrode one since that was what was in before and it ran ok. But I would change them in say 5 years well before End of Life so getting a cheaper one would work just as well. Howard

on at least a couple of mine the centre electrode had eroded, the ceramic insulators were cracking too. God knows how long they'd been in there!

is there a consesnus on the best/go-to plug for 4.4 petrol (0 jag engine? 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC
