Second failure(s)

Took the fatty for her first MOT since I've owned her. I was quietly confident that all would be well and maybe I'd get an advisory at the worst. Oops, wrong. It failed on the front nearside radius arm ball joint and both rear hub carrier lower bushes. I managed to change the radius arm with no issues but I couldn't shift the bolt through the lower hub bushes. So she's booked into Green Oval in January for them to to it. Boo hoo.

Shouldn't be too big of a job for them Thumbs Up get them to have a look at the top rose joints on the rear hub too while its apart. Might be worth getting those done at the same time if they are starting to look a little worn. Will save on time off the road Thumbs Up and the bushes and joints themselves are cheap enough. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yup cheers for that. The biggest issue for me is having to work on the drive and not being able to get it in the air to give better access. Also they will have the correct pullers rather than faffing around with sockets and screwed bar. I did ask them to check out the upper bushes while they had it stripped down as at £30 per side extra it will save on labour in the long run. 👍

Just make sure they use genuine parts, there are some very cheap bushes going around for about £6 each, you can imagine the quality..... Rolling Eyes Pete

Green Oval will only use genuine parts. He told me this on the phone when I booked it in. Apparently he has known the top bushes (which are supposed to be an interference fit) to work their way out. Not good. Trying to save a few quid on an important suspension component could end up costing hundreds if it fails dramatically. I dread to think what the outcome may be.

Lower bushes are available as part of the new LR Trade program, at £19.51 + VAT. Even cheaper than the OEM bushes Thumbs Up
