Erratic FSR

Sorry to disappoint. FSR has behaved perfectly ever since.
I have a new one somewhere if you want to try it.

When I checked one in the lab it seems to be fairly straight forward.
An increase in voltage on the input reduced the resistance on the output.

So the more lights showing on the control indicates increasing voltage to the FSR.
The reducing resistance allows a greater current to flow through the fan motor.

The connector plug is a complete PITA. so is it possible that it is not connecting as well as it might? Forty years of progress. 1972-2012

Arbuclkle
Do you have the pin-outs. I have a diagram but no numbers on the FSR itself.

Many thanks.

I had the FSR on my 2012 4.4 TDV8 replaced in April after the blower refused to work. Now the blower has again stopped working.

I don't want to jump to conclusions as I haven't found out the cause yet but if it is again the FSR that has failed could this point to a problem upstream in the circuit? It's odd for a part to fail again so soon. I previously had a 3.6 TDV8 for five years and the FSR never failed.

I have had a couple of minor issues with the aircon/heating in my 4.4:

A whistling noise coming through the air vents at speeds above 70mph. This stops when the aircon is switched on and air begins to flow through the vents. My main dealer said they are unable to determine the cause (the car has already had the aircon flap service bulletin done but that didn't solve anything).

Occasionally switching on the aircon is not enough to stop the whistling and the noise continues until the system sucks in some new air (usually after about 5-10 minutes). Then all is quiet.

When switching on the aircon causes the heater to start (only in cold weather) or when turning on either seat heater, a relay can be heard clicking under the passenger seat (my car is LHD). This stops after about five minutes and heating continues to work normally. The dealer said the is a FBH relay and normal. I never use my FBH.

As the aircon and heating otherwise works fine these issues have been just minor annoyances but I'm wondering of any of them could be a sign that something is not right and maybe what is causing the blower to fail... 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black
