Ireland 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Zambezi Silver

Today I replaced my factory DAB module with the D-JV-2 module from in2digi.

A couple of snags to be aware of:

1. The power connector is different to the factory one. In2digi supply a power cable to bare ends, so you have to join it to the factory pair of wires yourself. I did this with crimp-connectors.

2. The antenna connection is a different type. The factory is a Fiacla connector, I don't know what the one on the new module is called. Actually I think its a Fiacla without the plastic shroud.

3. The new module is not drilled for mounting, and is smaller than the original so you cannot simply drill holes in its flange.

These two issues were solved by purchasing a little kit from Cam at Oldjaguar.com in Australia - he's produced a very nicely laser-cut plate with threaded inserts and studs, to adapt the D-JV-2 to the RR's mounting plate. He also supplies an antenna cable adaptor - the existing one is a dual plug, L-band and Band III - but as we only use band III here you use his adaptor to connect to a single Fiacla which is in the loom about 250mm away from the OEM double plug.

Also supplied with the D-JV-2 is a 3-way optical cable to allow the module to be fitted to cars which don't already have the DAB module.

Anyway - 20 minute job to fit, and all works great!

A

The first problem was the power connector. The DAB+ unit has a four pin connector. I used a meter to find the Batt and Earth connections and rigged up power.

Can you tell me which ones of the four pins are the Batt and earthpin on the Module?
Don't like to do the "try and error" way. Whistle

I can’t remember the exact pins, but they were the outer two.

The method I used to determine which was which was as follows:-

With a test meter set to resistance/continuity, one of the pins (I think it was the right most one) will show no resistance between it and the case - this is earth

The other pin will show some resistance between itself and the case.

The two centre pins showed nothing.

Hope that helps.

John

This may help if you have a wiring diagram.

In very short term: ain’t no good!
The CPLA 14 F720 BM doesn't work in my 2010/11 MY. I say 2010/11 because I bought it as a 2010 but the IIDTool tells me it’s a 2011.
I'm starting to wonder if the thread-starter really was successful as he is so far the only one who blamed success for his change.
@Alinton; where did you ordered your D-JV-2 module? What else would I need to install the unit?

I recently did this module upgrade in my Jag XF. (same electronics). went from a 2 pin connector to a 4 ping and after working out JLR had swapped the pins around i got the module installed and working with ease.

the Pin closest to the edge of the unit is the earth the one further away s the power. in the end i cheated wiring mine as the chassis of the unit is also the earth so i only hooked up a power lead and then bolted it in place giving me the earth and it works a treat i now get DAB + stations like absolute classic rock.

You mean the one pin on the left towards the corner is the earth and the very next one ist the power or did I get this wrong?
The picture above shows the left one neg. the right one pos. and thats the way I was connecting the unit.

yes the pin on the left near the corner is the ground and the pin far right is the power. the other pins are not used.

if you mounting it on a metal bracket i would nto connect the ground pin. as the shell will ground it.

point to note is the two pin plug has the power and ground the opposite way to the 4 Pin plug. a quick way to test power is to connect it straight to the battery by some long fly leads.

I bought a DAB tuner with antenna and FM Tx and Bluetooth from Wish for £28 it plugs in cigar and is portable not a bad solution.

Just gave'm an other try, no luck at all. I can "push" the DAB button but no reaction, if I push the button with the original DAB installed it would work only we do not have dab in CH only DAB+. Need the D-JV-2 module to get happy again. Whistle

Hi Guys, I bought a DAB+ module, including bracket and custom connector converters via OLDJaguar. Not cheap, but came with a clear manual, easy to install and works flawless using the standard interface

!!

I can recommend that options. RR Vogue, 4.4 TDV8, 10/2010, Santorini Black

Looks good and the perfect solution.

Do you have any details; price, installation manual, specific DAB+ part number?

Many thanks.

Mail form Feb 2019:
If your 2010 L322 Vogue already has DAB, and you want to upgrade to DAB+, this is not too complicated.

I can supply a DAB+ module with the mounting bracket so it fits exactly where the original DAB module was located, also some adaptor cables for the power and antenna, so you do not need to cut or solder anything, it's just a matter of unbolting the old module, bolt in the new one, and plug in the cables. No programming needed.

There is a bit of work involved in accessing the DAB module, I have attached the instructions from the workshop manual so you can see what is involved.

For an "upgrade kit" it would be $810 AUD (~520 EUR) plus postage to Belgium, I guess around $50 AUD (~33 EUR) for postage with tracking.

I have all the parts here on the shelf will just need a day or so to prepare the kit.

Cameron
