it appears that turning up on the plain and 'just' driving isnt the way to do it...you need to plan a route that avoids the minefields and such....if anyone has a route plan of sorts i think it would be helpful... ... - .- -.

Maybe we need to go on a scouting trip beforehand?

That's the plan.

While others are very welcome to get involved, as topic starter I will make enquires about when the plain is closed for military training/testing and approach a few people that have run days out there for info...

Then I'll go for a run a few weeks before to check they are suitable for a FFRR.

Just wondering if it would be worth suggesting camping / tenting up for the night also?

Might make those members who live further away consider coming down - and means we could enjoy a few beers, and maybe a BBQ - without getting silly, of course?

Will be bloody cold that time of year, plus turns it into more of a mission...

I was going to suggest a Sunday.
There is a nice little pub on the outskirts of the plain that would be easy to get to for lunch if people wanted.
Sunday lunches can be ordered if people want a stop for chat/drink and don't want to bring the sandwiches.

Meet up at 9am. (for example) Do three hours, have lunch, do a few more hours and go home.

Nice one James - what is it you are doing on 05/12/10? (private function or sales promotion?)

Delamo - Bit of a busman's holiday..... Jez and I both have Defenders (he has quite a few other LR's too) which we try to do a bit of laning in on the Plain every couple of months. We will have 2 Defenders, a D3, a TDV8 RRS, a Lightweight and possibly a SII going on 5th Dec.

James Thumbs Up
