France

A quote from The Local (French-news-in-English website http://www.thelocal.fr/20160624/hollande-b...for-europe): “Echoing Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault's tweet earlier Friday that Europe must win back the trust of its people, [François] Hollande said "the decision also requires a lucid awareness of the inadequacies of Europe's functioning and people's loss of trust in the project."
It took the Brits to recognise this, and then to have the guts to do something about it. Thumbs Up It's "bĂ©bĂ©choon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.
20 years ownership of Solihull products, ALL GONE NOW, sniff!
Current motor: Suzuki S-Cross 4WD auto, 1.4 petrol. Oh so reliable! 5 years now and no problems. Oh, all right then, a leaking shocker replaced under guarantee.

From the BBC:

"FTSE 100 falls 3.15%

The FTSE 100 has ended the day at 6,138.69 points, down 199 points. That's still considerably higher than the 5,806 it touched earlier this morning.

European markets have been well and truly spanked, however, with the Dax in Frankfurt down 6.8% - its worst day since the financial crisis in 2008, the Cac in Paris shed 8%, Madrid fell 12%, while Milan takes the wooden spoon with a 12.5% plunge.

Wall Street is also lower lower, with the S&P down 2.7% and the Dow 2.1% lower."

It seems that compared to rEU not a bad day. Whistle

Firstly, On Tuesday June 14th the FTSE 100 stood at 5923.53. 10 days later, on Friday 24th of June, post Brexit, as I type, it stands at 6097.4. Up 2.3% compared to 10 days ago.

Now one of the many reasons I decide on bye bye. The EU are pushing to reduce the motor size and wattage of house hold items such as vacuum cleaners on the basis that it will help cut energy usage. Now I may be just a thicky but surely, you'll need to use a less powerful vacuum cleaner for longer in order to achieve the same effect of the original model, thus you'll be using the same amount of energy.

Its this sort of cr@p that i was sick of seeing coming out of Brussels

Meanwhile in the real world, our friend - a lovely Polish lady - explained to us that she doesn't feel safe or welcome here anymore after today. I told her to look on the bright side, at least she wont be forced to buy a smaller hoover and she really cheered up.

This was what I was telling people at work, in the city engine rooms, the greedy anylists, were so confident, of staying, they were surfing the wave, and the FTSE rose steadily, there was probably more left to go, once it was confirmed, but, they wiped out!
So today, the FTSE only lost its short term gains.
Have another look in 1 month.

A true disaster for the country, all to get one over on Cameron with no thought for the future. Note that mainly older people voted to leave and the younger voters to stay.

I very much doubt the votes were all to get one over on Cameron. There were many factors involved but as usual people and the media have jumped on his unpopularity and the immigration issue.

What have we shown our younger voters about democracy?

Unlike the general elections, the referendum was a truly democratic process where every vote was counted and had an equal strength towards the result. I think we've shown them that for once, the views of the majority are capable of being heard when listened to in the correct manner.

People should be ashamed of what they have done.

You may not agree with the result of the process but NO-ONE should ever feel ashamed of taking part in the democratic process and casting their vote. They may regret their choice later on...but they should never feel ashamed. Current:
2000 4.0V8 (LPG) P38 in Rioja red
2003 4.4 V8 (LPG) in Java black
2005 BMW Mini Cooper Park Lane in Royal grey
Gone:
2002 4.6V8 (LPG) P38 in Epsom Green
2002 4.4V8 Petrol (LPG) L322 in Giverny Green with Ivory interior

If people voted leave because they thought the economic benefits would be positive or that the EU is finished then of course they shouldn't be ashamed. Time will tell on that one.

But if people voted to leave because of ignorance, racism and xenophobia, which was what much of the leave campaign was about, then they should be ashamed.

The above video is funny, but imagine it redone with Hitler's speeches instead of Churchill's and footage of the SS overrunning the Ukraine. Now imagine that video if Germany voted to leave the EU.

My belief is that some people voted to leave because they believe that Britain is a 'better' country than other European countries and that a (probably white) British person is 'better' than other people.

To avoid that nationalism and xenophobia was what the EU was originally started for - in that at least it has been successful and has prevented major wars in Europe for 70 years .
