Or disconnect the negative terminal and leave it, shouldnt do any harm

No rain! Just hot hot weather.
I was asking about the battery before didn't know if it was safe to disconnect.

I do wonder if it is the heat messing with the car.

I'll let thw Wife carry on as normal tomorrow and if it plays up I'll get her to spray it with WD40 (easy job for her) onto the bonnet latch.

Mine is one of these located in the opposite compartment to the battery

It goes open circuit when the bonnet is closed so fine to disconnect by just unplugging it

When you say oposite to the battery, you mean top left corner of you are standing infront of the car? (Drovers side)

From my research on you tube the switch everyone is talking about changing is the bonnet latch (the one where you move your hand to open the bonnet)

Just been thinking.....(Dangerous i know )

as it stands the car has gone radio silent and back to normal.
these are the two switches people have spoke about online and here. For a quick fix can i just disconnect both until i get replacements in a few days if the alarm starts going crazy again?

the problem switch is the one that tells you when the bonnet is open [first pic]

its a common fault where outside temperature changes cause the alarm to sound...solution is to strip and clean or replace.. ... - .- -.

Where would i find that part in the engine bay?

I'm guessing alone the top of the engine bay

The lower one in the pictures above is the bonnet cable release type switch. I know these are on the Discovery and Range Rover Sport (having replaced some myself).

I am not sure (as I have not looked) if the L322 has both, but I would doubt it.

Just unplug the cable into the plunger switch. Job done. Discovery 4 HSE

Hi All,


Been a great ride for many months but I find my self happily coming back to the library.


New situation:


1) Reach home and lock car via key fob

2) Alarm comes on 10-15 minutes later with the hazard lights

3) Use key fob to unlock and lock car again

4) Solved


……only for the situation to come back and wake me and the neighbours up late at night


Also

1) When start car or turn off error message "hood bonnet open"


Stan that last pic you posted, is that all I need to do to diffuse the problem?

Can you please confirm how its done exactly? or maybe rangeseb can advise if Stan is on Holiday


Cant wait to put another challenge to bed and enjoy this beast.

bonnet thing...

had this problem with my TD6, alarm going off anytime.
expansion in hot weather
tightened the contactors and voilà!
