Do you offer this service for free or do you charge..???

FYI latest BT IID tool will read and clear faults on any JLR product that they cover (which is most from 2007 and some earlier) It is VIN locked for CCF editing only... It actually does more than the dedicated JLR one, and certainly more than any other tool out there, the back up and support is second to none as well... Pete

Hi Pete just bled the new pre charge pump like the link you sent me all was OK in the drive went for a run below 30MPH no problem as soon as I went up to 30 steadily all lights for suspension and orange ABS lights so I have removed the black box off the ABS block and see if I can get it repaired or pick another one up and try that, I will let you know if that cures it, Many thanks for your help keep my fingers crossed cheers Nigel

Hi Vanhoolt8,

My 2003 v8 also displayed air suspension and HDC faults along with a trans fail fault while in park, this was all down to the voltage output of my alternator.

These cars are very sensitive when it comes to voltage and the common faults that pop up are ABS, air suspension and HDC, so I would check the output from your alternator, it needs to be in the region of 14.0v to 14.5v or you will get faults. I was getting faults while idling on the drive while I was bleeding the coolant system, I would leave it overnight and they would disappear but when I took it for a run one night to bleed it through thoroughly I put my foot down and got the same faults again. This was explained to me that as the revs increased the pressure placed on the alternator wasn't reciprocated by its output and the battery had to step up and supply the voltage needed, this of course couldn't last very long and when the battery voltage dropped to 12.4v or so the faults appeared.

The faults tend to cascade as well, so if you get an abs fault that will cascade to HDC and air suspension.

I replaced my alternator and so far (touch wood) the faults haven't reappeared.

Thank you Simon for that when I put my code reader on it says I have a fault on the pre charge pump and the pre charge pressure sensor and they will not clear, When I left the car overnight last night this morning I went out to it and bled the pre charge pump after doing this the internet says run steadily for a few mile and then increase speed gradually and all light and warnings should go so I went out and stayed at 20MPH for a few mile and all was fine as soon as I went up to 30MPH all ABS and suspension and HDC came on again, So I have an ABS pump coming tomorrow when I have fitted this if all is well I will let you know Keep fingers crossed If not then I will look at the alternator Once again thanks Nigel

Hi,

What diagnostics are you using? I ask because if it's not LR specific it may be interpreting the faults incorrectly.

Have a look at the alternator output it's only a 2 minute job Thumbs Up

Low voltage will trip all sorts of faults but not usually the ones Vanhoolt8 has, they tend to be less specific general faults, Vanhoolt8's speed specific faults are a known issue with the BMW braking system and is pretty well documented... Thumbs Up

Totally agree that the first and cheapest thing to do is check your voltage when ANY fault appears though... Thumbs Up Pete

Hi Nigel,

Have you done the turn the steering wheel fully left and right to initialise the steering?

Also did you buy another ABS module or refurbish your own?

I ask because I'm sure a replacement ABS module will need coding to your car and that could be the reason the faults are there.
