Analogue clock

So, first real grumble about the L405. Where is the analogue clock?

Stupid digital thing, hidden away in various places that are not easily seen without searching. The damn thing moves around with the various screens and without reading glasses it's a bloody nuisance.

90 grand car and they couldn't be ar5ed to fit a proper effing clock. One I can see and which doesn't move around. Cheapskates!

You can have one as a screen saver on the infotainment screen.

But I agree. A nice clock would be a boon.

I concur, they could put one instead of the Land Rover logo in the centre of the dash, I always know who made the bloody car. letters not necessarily in the right order

Anyone know what's behind the centre panel, below the AC controls?

I was thinking of making a clock to go on there.

Been measuring up myself. Just need to figure out how to get the panel off and see what lurks behind.

Of course, it does bring the issue of which clock to choose. There are so many tacky looking ones, or really old looking Smiths ones. The more prestigious ones (Aston Martin, Bentley etc) have the small matter of being integrated to the car and are adjusted by a signal from one of the ECUs. Even the L322 clock has that small problem so doubtful it could be integrated to the L405.

EDIT. I quite like this one and it's only 30mm deep unlike the old Smiths ones. Shame about the tacky logo and the word "Clock" on the face. I'm sure even the most illiterate can figure out it's for telling the time. Jeez Rolling Eyes

I would hope not Stan, a few milliamps at most. The display is off when the car's off so you shouldn't be able to measure the current draw in reality.

Having a clock that kept time would be wonderful on a £100k mother. Mercedes manages it and their clocks auto adjust for BST. JLR are rubbish at clocks! MY23 D350 HSE

Disagree they're rubbish at clocks. Just looked at a 1994 RRC LWB for sale. Clock worked! Little else did.

Even my 11yr old Citroen had a clock which used the satnav to keep time accurately Whistle 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

I dunno. My P38A VDO-made clock was always accurate.

Could you fit a P38A clock? Ron B. VK2OTC

Well, funny you should mention that. What I've been looking into is how the thing gets adjusted. The L322 (and many others) use the screen to adjust the clock and then you can watch the hands whizz round magically to the right time. This is the main issue.

Without that integration it needs a method of adjusting the time and I'm not keen on the clocks with a mahoosive adjuster poking through the face. I do wonder if the GAP gentlemen know how this is done in L322, perhaps it could be copied in L405 with the use of a L322 clock?
