After more study I am even more confused. The online manual definitely says the front sidelight is a bayonet fitting but the drawing is very inconclusive (it could show anything). Online suppliers go for the 501 5w5 push fit (ive got some of those) and i was thinking of going the led route, but i have had trouble in the past on other vehicles with short lifetimes on these... QUID FACIUM TIBI

Well I bought some 99p eBay specials, been in over two years, still work fine...

They were the push fit W5W ones, defo not bayonet....



The cold bulb monitoring (which you can't turn off on the sidelights) makes them flash 5 times each every time you start up, no great issue though...

When you take the sidelight out, don't drop the big white nut which is tight to get to on the drivers side, if you drop it you have to take the undershield off to get it back... ask me how I know...

Another advantage of my new alloy guard, it's not as wide as the plastic, mind you with hands the size of a plate I drilled a hole in my white nuts (ooooh matron...!!!) and strung then up with a cord (this is getting silly)

So make sure you don't drop your nuts...  Pete

£16 for two bulbs.... I've been buying them for years, cheap and expensive bulbs, and I have to say just get the cheapest you can off ebay for all LED bulbs, they all seem to come from the same place and the chances of premature failure has no relation to the price paid...  Pete

I'm sure that is true but they need to be canbus type and I bought cheap numberplate LED lights and they overheated and nearly set fire to my RR. They also made my LCM do some crazy things which could have been expensive shorting that out.
I have had my sidelight bulbs so long they must have come down a lot in price

I swapped mine on an earlier RR for LEDs, they flashed on start up, but no other problems and they were a delightful shade of blue. I think I got 'em of eBay, they can't have been that difficult to swap as I did it myself without problem. At the time mine was a 2007 and IIRC they were just 501s.
As for overheating I didn't think LEDs did that sort of thing, mine didn't anyway. Geoff

Just changed mine to led..looks so much better without the yellow tinge..has anybody sourced ones for the fog lights yet?
