Well,

The bus sits on my sloping drive so I started it up to reverse onto to level ground, duly turned the key (thinks "Mmm turning over slowly"). proceeded to reverse, checked anti-freeze / brake / power steering fluids all ok.
Got back in, turned key to start lots of whirring clicking from behind dash, display told me "Transmission fault, reduced traction" etc then all hell broke loose all panel lights went out WTF
Went in got my Multi meter 11.5 volts at the terminals. Phoned AA, guy duly arrived and clipped the starter pack onto the battery, got in, car started, checked voltage at battery terminals with engine running 14.5 volts, alternator is ok phew.
NB: Car had a new battery (Land Rover /Jaguar model) fitted by previous owner in Dec 2013. To be fair I dont do long runs. Day before all seemed ok did 14 miles to local garden centre. I bit the bullet and got him to fit a new battery for £149.95.
Think Ill also invest in a back up battery prob VARTA or equivalent.
Still love the car tho' .

Your alarm starts going off for no apparent reason.......

Returned from a brisk run to blow the cobwebs out, hour later then....
Heard a "beep beep" close by, looked out of the window, what!!!, the shed was flashing lights at me, first time ever.
Ok, i thought, maybe a fly or spider having a warm, opened its doors but nothing flew out or scuttled about.
Locked it up and went in, 1/2 hour later off it went again, hmm did a search on this superb forum and....

Bonnet micro switch?, didnt know i had one, thanks to Stans pic showing location found it and un-plugged it.
I think it was when the bonnet was in the service position for the battery change, it was flexing quite a bit, maybe the switch was right on the limit of its travel, anyway also WD40'd the door locks, so far silence.

NB: I am going to stick a piece of blue-tac close to where the switch is to see how close the bonnet inner skin actually stops.
