Just bought the Christmas tree, slid it in over the boot cover and into the cabin, blunt end hanging in the air.
Of we set and some mindless child decides to ride across the road at a pedestrian crossing.
Foot hard on the big pedal and I come to a halt. Xmas tree shoots forward and stops on the wife's arm, heavily bruised but I digress.
Front offside wheel locks up and skids on the anti skid surface! Went out again on dry and clear bit of road, did a few nose in the ground stops and only left two "you can just about see them" black marks.
Need I worry?

Did you get a pulsing effect from the brake pedal..??

If you did the ABS has cut in and worked, the wheel has to skid before the system works so you can still get a lock up, it also slows the wheels to less rotational speed than speed across the ground so you will leave skid marks...  Pete

What Pete said you can't fail to notice the ABS pump cutting in. Feels like a grinding graunching sensation, which you can feel through the pedal. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yes the pulsating feel and squeaks from the tyres was evident when I did my testing.
Not sure about the incident though I suspect the boy had to change his underwear!
Had I been in my old Toyota MPV I'd be talking to police right now.
No doubt I pressed the peddle a lot harder at the time and I was not recording all the cars feedback, rather the bike and my bumper.
It stopped straight and true so any thoughts of something wrong are put to bed.

Remember that all abs braking systems have to lock up at some point - you don't stop otherwise

Don't forget you have EBA which senses when you brake fast and takes over for you, it is amasing how soon these big beasts come to rest when it engages....

Emergency brake assist (EBA)

If the brake pedal is depressed rapidly, EBA automatically boosts the braking force to a maximum and thus helps to stop the vehicle in the shortest possible distance, when a full brake application is made. Also, if the driver brakes more slowly, but with sufficient brake pressure to activate ABS on both front wheels, the system automatically increases the braking force so that all four wheels are in ABS control, optimising the performance of the ABS system. Pressure should be maintained on the brake pedal during the entire brake application. If the brake pedal is released, EBA will cease operation.
