Let me start by saying this f*cking car will be the death of me.

I posted a couple of days ago a slight oil leak, was pointed to a post, ordered o rings and kept an eye on the oil level.

Today I went out for a 20km drive stopped left the engine alone for 10 mins and checked the oil... Underfilled in the red. Drove it home and re ran the check. Same results

Went to the garage bought 1ltr of oil poured it in. Went for the same drive repeated the check...Overfilled in the red at the other end of the guage.

Can anyone give me any advice should I continue to drive it or take it to the dealer to get the excess oil removed?

Rings very true - had the same issue this weekend. From a bit of searching it appears that the gauge is extremely sensitive to the car being absolutely level. I tested this with a slight gradient - nose up over filled, nose down 3/4 filled!

I am not burning any oil and still have a slight leak so will will monitor consumption until she goes in to be serviced when I'll get the leak fixed too. Bish.

Don't know what was wrong with having a dipstick to be honest

Now with this one you have to get the engine up to temperature wait for it to cool down just the right amount, dance around the car clockwise 3 times, put the left blinker on twice and open the boot to a 35° angle whilst whistling the British national anthem you can then get into the service menu to check he oil

There is a service method to get it to show you the level without waiting......

But it's a secret  There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I recall the handbook saying that it was bad for the car to run overfilled, so if I were you I would check the level again and have any excess removed if necessary. Bishbosh is absolutely right that the sensor is very sensitive to the level of the car and it seems to display in whole units rather than showing the level between lines, so exaggerating the effect. Only Range Rovers since 1988
