3.0 Td6 Vogue 2002 on 147000m pointers!

Just got my first full fat! Now apart from a full service, all oils and filters etc. What pointers should I be looking out for at that age vehicle? I have some service history, but not all.
EGR will be blanked asap, does this need turning off in diagnostics or can it just be unplugged without issue?
Recent struts on the front. no leaks or sagging suspension.
I've just fixed the powerfold mirrors thanks to the wiki stuff.
I have problem that the steering wheel movement doesn't work, and the drivers seat doesn't tilt down at the back just moves forward instead of down. and the memory function doesn't work. but still need to look into these.
Will be getting a IDD tool asap.
But other than that, I can't see anything else wrong.

Many thanks in advance.

Check the engine breather ASAP if its a loo roll type replace with the vortex type to save your Turbo. Make sure the engine gets up to temperature and stays there if not look at the EGR thermostat. I would leave the column alone once you have got it to the position you want, easy to take off the cowling and turn the threaded rods to adjust manually but take note it might have broken bits that have been modified to keep the column up and not in your lap.
And as previous fit EGR bypass block the vacuum hose going to it and if you are keen remove the inlet manifold and clean out the goo caused buy the EGR http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Crankcase-Tu...SwbsBXieor 2007 TDV8 VSE

Unnecessary quote removed

One of the first jobs i did about a month ago , zero issues . Mine has 113k miles on it.
You can see why you need to get rid of it -

I knew this motor was looked after as soon as I seen it! Was told a hgv mechanic had it, I am one too, egr already done Smile
I'm still going to do full service and breather like you guys said. Even if it has been changed to vortex type by the time I get it off to find out may well have changed it.

My 02 is on 136k and still goes like a train.

I fitted the EGR blank and the turbo vortex filter mod from BMW. Change the oil and filters myself every year and had it 8 years now. It's the longest I've owned a car.
