Torx Sizes?

Hi guys,

Starting to undo this and that on the Vogue and finding LR seem to have shunned phillips screw heads completely.

I already undid the A-pillar cover to run a wire, that uses a pretty big Torx size. Problem is I wouldn't know a T4 from a T20.

Found a set with the following:

9 x TX STAR: T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9, T10, T15 and T20

Will these sizes do most jobs?

Thx!

. Cheers, Greg

Hi,

You would be better off getting a set that goes from T10 to T50, T10, T15, T20, T25, T27, T30, T40, T45 and T50. This will cover the sizes used on the FF for all usual jobs.
I have a set of Torx keys, but also got a set of 1/2" Torx Sockets, as some of the Torx Bolts are a sod to undo with the key alone.

Emphasis on the T27. It might seem odd in the sequence but there are loads that size.

I bought a set of Wera Kraftform screwdriver style ones which are awesome. This set has some and the seller also ordered me the remaining ones at a decent price.

Also worth having a set of 3/8" socket drive ones to get the really tight ones started. Halfords Pro seem to be excellent value.

Torx is the BMW offspring.
I bought a 1/4 inch drive kit with all sorts of Torx and other bits, use it all the time, great for interior and removing wheel sensors, brake disc retainers.
