Heated Windscreen in FFRR

Question for product features and model years experts...

My Disco has a heated screen, really proved its worth this winter - and I understand that the FFRR also has this - believe it's Ford technology so would it be true to say that only the later FFRR models developed under Ford ownership would feature the heated screen?

Thanks. Graham

Not true - My first 97 RR P38 had it as standard. Not sure when they came in though. To be honest, I thought it was LR technology that introduced this feature (but I'm probably wrong Rolling Eyes ) Ash

Range Rovers have always had them - from 1989 at least! Contrary to popular belief Ford did not invent the heated screen.

The heated screen as with the heated mirrors and door locks first appeared on the RR Classic in the mid 1980's - it was std original equipment on a Vogue SE and an option on other models

Ah, great - thanks folks. Thumbs Up

Really useful... means I can get an older car and still hope to find a (working) heated screen! Graham

LOL, yeah they work fine until stonechips see to the elements. Mine's as stripey as a zebra, needs a new screen TBH.

6+ years old with original screen, hmmm. Whistle Whistle

Stone chips are normally covered by the windscreen insurance?

PS Think I might recognise you from Disco3... Whistle Graham

Yup, it's me. Used to be a D3'er, now graduated.

Sure insurance covers it, subject to the 60 quid excess each time. Censored

Incidentally, on that subject, certain insurers are treating glass claims as counting towards the 3 strikes in 2 years for NCD purposes. Thieving devils. (hence why my screen replacement will take place after march 12th Wink

Dom.

I once had a 1989 Classic Vogue Auto with a non heated screen but the switch for it. Puzzled.

So, I cracked the screen and got it replaced for £50 excess back in the day and got a genuine heated one fitted in its place. Very Happy Discovery 4 HSE
