I think it's worth a punt.
I've actually bought a Mustang unit to replace my whole unit as a bit of an experiment - and 1/3 the price - and the two units are the same except for the connectors. (Land Rover and Ford).
. Cheers, Greg

Is that for the seat back or bottom unit? Which Ford part number did you get? I've come up with a few different ones and in pictures none seem to be an exact fit for the pictures of the RR unit.

The fans and peltiers are the same parts for both seat base and back, its just the plastic ducting that differs.
They are the same parts as the ford ones too (and some other cars), just connectors differ as Greg has said.

The first thing to determine is which fault codes are being logged, as this gives a major steer as to what is at fault. If the fan runs on cooling, even if only briefly, then you know the fan is good. If the seat gets cool you know the peltier is too (else it wouldn't cool the air). If the fan wont run on heating you will have fault codes. If it says overtemp on the back module it is likely the ducting split, or in the case of the base something restricting sufficient air flow. This is a theory as I have no proof of exactly what causes this. Trying to disconnect the unit from the seat base and running so it can blow to free air would probably see it work. We need somebody to try this though who is seeing that fault code Mr. Green
If that is the case the next problem becomes how to address the restricted air flow. Too many toys, not enough time

I bought the Mustang unit, it's a replacement for the base unit.
Haven't fitted it yet, looks like it will work though.
Connectors are different.
Will find the part number and post soon. Cheers, Greg

yes it's on my list.
Weather's getting colder here so might go up on the list too!
Need to remove the whole seat though, so it's a little involved.
. Cheers, Greg

It`s a bit of a struggle to do it in place I did mine, a lot of satisfaction on completion and a nice warm bum now. Smile

Well got a bit more testing done today , pass seat works fine , hot and cold , base and back , warms up quite quickly , drivers seat cools fine , put it on heat and shuts down after a few seconds , reset everything and run on heat with just back , I can hear fan running with my ear against seat but very little heat (compared to pass side ) , looks like it might be expensive , seems like base unit is causing the shut down but the seat back is producing very little heat .

SLAMG the ebay link I posted is a Ford unit. For a Mustang I think.
Soooooo much cheaper than the £243 LR unit.
And it's basically the same unit (different connectors)
***Disclaimer: Haven't actually fitted it yet

. Cheers, Greg

matthews - your description issame as mine is doing.
Try switching it on full but immediately switch off the base half using the button.
See if your back unit heats up.
My back unit heats up as long as I deactivate the base straight away. Cheers, Greg

That's what I find , back will heat but not very hot compared to pass seat as long as I turn base off immediately , leave base on and it all shuts down , going to loosen seat and check all connectors today if I get chance .
