Email sent. Incidentally the bolt seems to be 16mm. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I'd heard that some of them are now modified to include this bolt, a bolt that will take up all of the slack and remove the hitch rattle. I'd never seen one before.

Unfortunately, the one that I bought from Dan didn't have this modification.

Anyone who wants to buy one would be best to make sure that it includes this bolt before buying Thumbs Up

Bit puzzled to read different versions of the fitting instructions. The design I’m guessing has changed since 2016 (date of my owner’s manual) to the online version which I’ve uploaded here. The current (online) section of the manual refers to the anti-rattle bolt - see 5 & 6 in the picture.

That must be right, the later ones have the anti rattle bolt and my guess is that it is from MY 2017 on. Only Range Rovers since 1988

that's a revised cover that fills in the gap behind the new receiver hitch and between the two silencers. There's a big plastic infill there on yours now, but it needs to be replaced with one that fits around the receiver.

Sorry to be a pain.
Would it be possible to have a picture with the infill fitted.
Thanks for your help.

No problem.

Here is an alternative for £10 from a common auction website. Looks simple to replicate.

I saw those when I was looking for mine, although the much heavier duty ones will let you use a great deal more pressure to clamp the joint together Thumbs Up

I had a tow hook fitted and two points:-

1 my l322 had a removable tow hook but at least when in it could be locked!!. This version just has an R clip to secure. Means that the tow hook and what’s on it (bike rack. And bikes for example) can be stolen. Dumb.
2 standard tow hook ball would not work with a Thule compact bike rack. Had to buy a long neck version from anazon. But all fixed now.

A little unfair. A receiver hitch can easily be locked into place:

Well is still had a single bolt in the same place that would allow it to be removed......

If you lock the bikes together, then even if you can remove the pin, it's still a significant feat to move the whole lot with that weight.

It's the same system used by the Americans & Australians, so plenty of locking pins out there too.

Thanks both for responses.

The l322 detachable tow hook came with a lock which is why I was surprised. LR could have included a lockable pin as your links show for not much extra...

I’m not a towing driver and only use for the bike rack now and then so this is all new to me.

Have ordered the lockable pin shown thanks for the tip.

The swan neck tow ball had a lock that simply locked the 2 parts together - which gave the illusion of security......

The car still had the 2" square receiver and the other part of the swan neck system fastened into it with a single bolt in the same place as the farmers hitch Thumbs Up

Ohh... I just put it on and left it ..never examined it closely. It had a lock assumed that secured it. --
