water shedder

Hi all, purchsed a water shedder from dealer- need to get it installed, there were destructions with the shedder- i assume it fits behind the sat nav drive to deflect water from nav units etc? has anyone installed one?

Interesting:

Dont know if this has already been posted but I think its really important and I hope it helps to prevent damage.

I have today fitted my "Water Shedder" to help prevent water damage to Sat NAV, DVD, Telephone & Power Amp if water leaks through left hand rear quarter.

Technical Service Bulletin No. LTB00007v2 31 May 2007

Subject/Concern: Navigation System Inoperable/Rear Quarter Water Ingress

Models: Range Rover (LM) - Vehicles With Sat Nav - Vehicles With Sat Nav VIN- range: Up to 6A226169

Markets: All

Section: 419-07

Section: 86

Summary: A customer may report a concern that the satellite navigation system does not operate and only displays the Land Rover logo. In some cases the radio and/or the telephone bluetooth functionality may also be inoperative.

This Version has been issued due to a change in the Service Procedure to carry out L8803BU, in order to ensure the route cause of the water ingress is also investigated.

Cause: Water ingress in the area of the left-hand rear quarter light glass or body panel may enter into the navigation unit resulting in the above complaint. However, in extreme conditions water ingress may effect any/all of the following modules (dependent upon model year and vehicle specification):
•Telephone control unit (TCU).
•DVD Player.
•Satellite digital audio radio system (SDARS) tuner/receiver - (NAS only).
•Power Amplifier.
Action: Should a custome express concern regarding the above, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin to install water ingress protection when renewing the navigation unit.

Parts Required: Shedder - tall door

Part Number: EOT500030

Quantity: 1

Cost Inc. VAT: £7.40

This info has now been added to the WiKi:

Having been there and got the dead sat nav T shirt I've ordered it , just hope I'm not paying £7 for a landrover carrier bag! Twisted Evil

Only Landrover could have the nerve to suggest putting on a Mac because the car leaks! 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

Did you ever manage to find out how to install the water shedder, I've just picked one up and would be keen to hear peoples experience about fitting one to a facelift 2005 car. Whistle

That reminds me, i must fix the roof on my house today:lol:

Do many people have problems with the water ingress. I have a bit of water in the wheel well but thought this was either condensation or "normal", my classic softdash and series II leak like a collander, thought it was inbuilt into every landrover.
