Thanks for that. I've just taken Jonny's advice and set the steering wheel fully forward and moved the seat so the wheel doesn't motor in and out when I put the key in. My Bluetooth headset and satnav stay plugged in all the time (in the armrest in the centre console) so I'll keep an eye on that.

I'm a new member with a 2002 Vogue and the same battery drain problem. I've tried changing the HEVAC relay as recommended but no change.
Can anyone recommend the best battery to use cos if I change mine I want the best I can get.

If the frost freezes them they can get out of sync and get confused. Although I've not heard of that causing battery drain, wipers pointing to the sky is common in summer.... Pop the fuse back in just to see if they reset.

Good advice RRUK.

Always change your battery at the first sign of any starting problems - there cheap and once you have changed it you know where your at.

Searching for a nice E63 AMG or S8 V10 to replace my "wonky" TDV8

i had the dreaded bty problem last summer, i went to kwik fit and some gobby young lad measured the battery and said it was ok
he was talking a load of crap and the battery went from not very good to absolute crap

i changed the HVAC relay and the battery at the same time ive had happy starting ever since

battery on cars do not last for ever typicaly around 5 -7 years or so im told

i also bought the modefied wiring loom for the Hvac but have not had time fit

i believe the once the battery gives up the ghost and starts to play up CHANGE IT  02 Range Rover HSE Zambezie silver 4.4

Put the fuse back in this morning and when I walked round the front the wiper had parked.

Lights on, wash windscreen and both headlamp wipers now working

Guess it was the low temperatures, will have to check they are parked after use in cold weather.

Yoy would think that with all the computing power it could sense something was taking power when it shouldn't and turn it off.

Im also currently having this battery drain issue. Replaced battery, still won't start after a 1 day of sitting. Pretty sure the alternator is working fine.

Not sure about the HVAC issue, pulled fuse 64 and still seeing the drain.

I can hear some slight noise buzzing coming from inside around center dash. Pulled fuse 15, or 12 and it seemed to stop. Still waiting on weather thats the issue.

Headlight Wipers might be an issue as they have been stuck for some time. But what fuse number are the headlight wipers on??

Any advice would help. Thanks

you said you can hear a fan like noise coming from the centre console this could be that the final stage fan is not being told to go to sleep and or waking up intermitantly and draing your battery. the easey way to check is to
switch off remove keys from ignition

lock the car (with you in it)

there is an red led on the centre console near the terain / low gear switches after a s mins that should go out and the fan will stop

if they dont then the car is not going to sleep

the biggest tell tale is the fan will never stop

you need to be patient and stay for around 30 min tosee if the the car wakes up and the fan comes back on

mine took about 15 min to turn on a gain (i looked a little daft sitting still with no engine on or music )

if it it does come back on theHVAC is not performing and needs replacing


have fun dont forget the interior alarm sensor

Yes, I hear a slight humming noise from center console. Its very quiet.

However, i did what you said and sure enough locking it and me sitting inside after about 15 min everything went down and then started back up again, like it tried to sleep, but woke back up instantly. The red led by the Park went off then came right back on. So does that mean its the final stage relay? Or what was all fixed with yours? Thanks

yep thats what happened with mine and i change the HVAC (bit of a ) to do i also changed the battery and i have had no probs

the HVAV is around 50 quid from a stealer part no. JG0000021 i think it is a triangular shaped with metal rods

it is way under the drivers side centre console

when i got mine the part bloke said they dont get through many but when he check he had them in stock


if you need a step by step then i can

to be sure

do the same but wait out side the car Weather permiting) and you will see the led come on and you will no for sure that it was not you moving in the cab. also a school of thought is that a HVAC loom using the modified wiring harness YN1500040K can help i got one and did not fit and have had ho probs

for the sake of 50 quid and a new battery it could save a stealer eating your wallet and not solving the problem
