I have just cleaned my intake out it was full of oily carbon deposits. The clip in your picture is on a fork bracket, just carefully pull it towards the front of the vehicle and it will slide out of the bracket. Just be careful and you should be fine. Current Range Rover Vogue SE 2011 4.4 TDV8

Thanks Headless. Cant get the thing to budge. I thought maybe it had to be uncoupled and got myself a nice coolant shower. 2011 RR Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 |

No mine was stiff, but I definitely just pulled towards front of car. Like I say it's on a fork bracket. 👍 Current Range Rover Vogue SE 2011 4.4 TDV8

Just thought another odd thing is the 2 plastic posts that hold engine cover on. I used pliers near bottom of post to unscrew plastic top (as they looked like they would snap using a screwdriver) then a small torx socket to remove small bolt that plastic top is screwed onto. You may have already done this. I was fixing oil cooler leak. Current Range Rover Vogue SE 2011 4.4 TDV8

Thats what in trying to get too, and the oil pipe that goes into it to replace the o-rings. Didn't realise they need to come out.

If you are only doing the pipe with the 2 o rings then you can access it from the back of the engine without removing anything apart from pollen filter housing 2x 13mm nuts. Then using a mirror you can undo the bolt holding pipe in. Replacing o rings took about 20 mins. I tried that 1st before I realised oil was coming from between oil cooler and top of engine so had to remove air intake to remove oil cooler to replace the gasket. That took 3hrs approx including cleaning air intake which was in a terrible state with carbon build up.

Im doing the gaskets on the oil cooler too. Not sure if they are leaking or if its just residual oil from the turbo pipe. Stinks inside when I come to a standstill. Cars done 85,000 miles so if they haven't failed i'll do it as a preventative measure to save stripping it down again. Will give it a good clean out while its apart. 2011 RR Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 |

Speaking of dirty air intake systems, has any one tried a spray cleaning system - here's one

The mechanic has used Revive on my car a few times. The 1st application at about 230,000km made a noticible difference. I now have a maintenance dose done about every 20,000km. ______________________________

the stud that one of the plastic engine cover mounts onto has no head on it. Any suggestions on how to remove it? 2011 RR Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 |
