No sat nav or tmc signal - solved

I think I might have nearly got to the bottom of the issues that arose after a flat battery.

However, whilst trying to chase a 3 amp drain I pulled all fuses one by one. At some point shortly after this I noticed that I have lost connectivity to satellites for nav. Now, I understand it can take a while to re-establish the connections, but this is not as simple as that. The car has been run for a few hours at least, and still no satellites or TMC as yet.

I checked connections at that back left of the car into the disk unit and they all seem ok. I have checked the fuses that are related (according to manual) and they are all ok.

Any ideas? I use the sat nav a lot and having spent so much time getting things right on this car, just as I get there ten more things go wrong and I just cannot live with anything that doesnt work as it should. I need to fix this despite the rather questionable abilities of the nav unit.

About 3 weeks ago, a LR body shop did respray my roof, disconnected the shark fin aerial and removed the windscreen to do the work. I have since used the sat nav for thousands of miles across Europe with no issues until Monday this week when I had my second flat battery in 7 days..

Thanks
Mark .

Checked connections at the back of the unit, took the head lining down and checked those too. All seemed ok. Went for another drive, stopped, got out tapped the shark fin a dozen times. Carried on. 10 minutes later I had a GPS signal. Not sure if it was the tapping, or the checking, or it just needed longer to connect to the satellites. Either way, it's all good.
