porridge , if the gps icon is crossed out then the unit is not receiving a satellite lock..could be the software or hardware, check the connections for hardware and do a battery disconnect for the software to reboot... ... - .- -.

Thanks Scarey.
Will give that a go. Just hoping that it is not a stuffed Nav ECU. If it is, it is the first that I have come across on the later 2007 onwards models.
