AUX-level fix!

Hi all,
I hope this may be helpful for others who have decided that the pathetic amplification level of the rear Aux input in their L322 is just too annoying to live with.
I purchased one of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NE5532-Stereo-A...3d5c87b3ed
and installed it in line with the aux input. It works like a charm and raises the level to where my phone / ipod matches the cd-player without twirling of the volume knob. I've got it temporary now, but plan to install it permanently somewhere behind the rear heater controls. It can we wired directly to the rear cig-lighter, since this is switched by the ignition. I will then unsolder the input jack and wire it directly to the amp input and wire the cable I remove from the jack to the output of the amp. The end will be a completely hidden and permanent fix to this very annoying problem.

Hope this helps!
Henrik

I will, when I get around to the permanent install. At the moment, it's all hanging off the cig lighter.

I also meant to ask where you've got this placed i.e in the loom before the aux socket in which case how did you wire it in? Thanks! Very Happy 2007 Range Rover Vogue 3.6 TDV8

Hi,
No pictures yet - it's still just a temporary install. Basically, I've soldered a female mini jack to the input of the amp and a male jack to the output. The output goes to the aux socket and the input is now my new aux socket, into which I plug my ipod, phone or Ugreen BT unit.

I will take pics when I go permanent.

Ah - got you, thanks. Did you just unsolder and replace the phono sockets on the board? I think I'll definitely give this as go Thumbs Up 2007 Range Rover Vogue 3.6 TDV8

No phono sockets on the board. It's a simple 3-pin in and 3-pin out. I was lucky enough to have suitable connectors on hand, but if you don't, just solder your wires to the pins directly. R, L and gnd is printed on the board, so it's pretty foolproof. For a temporary install, just get a mini jack extension cable and snip it in half, soldering each end to the amp board and a ciggie-plug to the power input.

Sorry - I think I veered off somewhere and have been thinking of a slightly different board - but looking at the one you actually used I get what you mean!. cheers 2007 Range Rover Vogue 3.6 TDV8

Did this get finished? trying to get my head around what plugs in where....I'm planning on wiring in an amazon input device into the rear aux port (probably soldered to the back of the panel). does this board need wiring to the cars amplifier or does the board amplify? 2011 RR Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

The board amplifies. It raises the level of the output of your mobile device to where it better matches the sensitivity of the aux input. I have yet to make the input permanent, looking at bluetooth module to go with it.
