In Nick's case it wouldn't matter as a real 2010 onwards doesn't have a key, just a transponder fob and a start/stop button on the dash. Although there is the emergency key in the side of the fob to open the passenger door 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

France 2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

I did the conversion on my Range,
I bought one kit I talk about few months ago in the last post of this subject :

http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic3946.html

I'll take some pics of my flip key tomorrow, but it looks like this one:

I just moved the transponder from the Range key in the new one, and ask a locksmith to cut the blades I bought

Some pics of the module in the car I installed under the dashboard :

I only used 3 wires, for 12V, openning signal and locking signal. I plugged the Lock wire and unlock wire to the wires used in the driver door to unlock or lock the door with the key. These wires are on the door connector, I'll give you the color tomorrow, because I don't remember the color of it.

When you use the key to unlock the door, it eneble or disable the alarm as well.

The only thinks I still have to do is change lock / unlock option with the key, on my car, using the key only unlock the driver door, I read somewhere that opening the car with the key can unlock all the doors.

And I don't set the option to open the tailgate door yet...

I drive my car every day with this system now for 2 months, and it is more comfortable to keep the key in my pocket

So just to clarify in theory any key which fits would work is the transponder was present. the internals are only needed for the remote locking. What is needed for opening the doors with the key?
Once the boring key transponder has been moved to the diamond key and blade cut does it need re programing?

Just to clarify whats needed in changing your old land rover key (bmw) to a flip key

The BMW diamond key has the 3 button in a row layout so get one from ebay as long as it works

Ebay do a flip key housing that will accept the diamond key internal circuit

Get the key on the new flip cut to your key patten

Before doing anything get your diamond key and your land rover key and get into RR with your land rover key put into ignition and turn full on but not start and full off and remove key within 5 sec

Next hold unlock button down on your diamond key and press lock button 3 times within 10 secs all this must be done within 15 secs of removing your land rover key from ignition if it does not work you did not turn ignition on and off fast enough when you get it to work the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm

You now have a diamond key that will lock and unlock your RR but not start it

Next take Knife to diamond key and carefully cut open and remove circuit this will fit straight into the new flip but first remove the old transponder from the circuit card this is where it gets interesting

The BMW key charges the key battery from being inserted in to the ignition if you want this to still happen then you do this

On the diamond key circuit card you will see a 8 legged IC gently cut the legs and remove this is the transponder and its no good to you once done install your transponder into the flip case and hey presto your new key

If you dont want the auto charge then remove the copper coiled part you will see on the diamond circuit card and also peel the battery off its connection and replace with like but non rechargeable install your transponder

Your now done enjoy your new FLIP KEY Porsche Cayenne

Hi Daveo this is a picture of the diamond key circuit board

The copper wound rectangle is the bit that charges the key battery when inserted in the ignition the 8 legged IC to the left is the transponder you have to remove either for the key to work if you remove the copper wound coil you loose the ability to charge the battery in the fob but you also remove power from the IC if you cut the IC legs you will still be able to charge the fob battery the issue really is that the origional key fob was sealed for life hence the need to charge the battery however your new fob can be opened so the battery can be changed when flat

Thats it
